About

Ok, so I did go out of my way to pick the most pretentious title I could think of to disguise the fact that I’m just your typical Midwestern, beer-drinkin’, guitar-pickin’, Appalachian claw-hammer style banjo-strummin’ American trying to keep the weeds out of his Petunia patch.

Also, I think being human is both something that is and is becoming.  People are human from the moment of conception until death, but at the same time they become more human as they become more thoughtful and developed.  As recognized by the Founding Fathers in drafting the Constitution, they cannot be fully developed unless they are free.  I think free enterprise enhances freedom and the ability to develop while socialism and communism take it away.

This blog is not attempting to say money is the meaning of life.  Rather, it is intended to be just a collection of random thoughts.  Then again, only humans have money and only humans care about the things discussed here.  All of the intended topics – money, law, politics, literature, history, etc. – do give meaning to life and make us more human.

Quote I’ve been quoting lately: “The future is that time when you’ll wish you had done what you’re not doing now.”  I don’t know who first came up with it.  I’ve seen it attributed to different people including Ben Franklin, but frankly I never heard him say it.

What’s on my ipod?  28GB of podcasts.  I especially like ipod University where you can download actual college lectures for free, but it’s geting so more and more of my space is used by downloads from LibriVox.org.  This is a group with the purpose of having volunteer readers record every book that is in the public domain.  Check it out.  It has LOT of stuff and it’s all free.
